Salmo's Paul Maher wins MBA Rugby World Cup:
Paul Maher celebrates Salmo Style, after winning the MBA Rugby World Cup
Congrats to our very own first team squad member Paul Maher, who is seen here with the MBA Rugby World Cup. A student at UCD Smurfit Business College and a member of DLSP since joining the Youth Section, Paul was selected on the team to attend the event that recently took place at Duke in the USA. UCD Smurfit had a fantastic set of results along the way to the final, beating their hosts Duke University 22-12, University of Texas 35-12, UCKA California State 22-7, wharton 17-14, London Business School 12-8 (in the Semi-Final) and Harvard Business School 13-10 in the final.
The Conor Martin Trophy and The Tom O'Connor Cup come home!:

The Annual Match between De La Salle College Churchtown Senior Cup Team and
De La Salle Palmerston under 18's took place in Kirwan Park on April 20th. A long standing fixture, this was the sixth season that both teams were competing for the Conor Martin trophy.
Conor was a student in the college, who died tragically of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. Conor was also a member of De La Salle Palmerston. As always the game was played in a great
spirit, with the club side winning on the night by 24 points to 10.
The above photo shows DLSP U-18 Captain and Ireland U-18 Club side player Josh O'Rourke receiving both the Conor Martin Trophy and the Tom O'Connor Perpetual trophy, which is memory of one of Palmerston's favourite sons, the late Tom O'Connor, who was one of the key people involved in the establishment of Leinsters oldest youth section. Both Trophies will
now reside in Kirwan park for the year.
Last Team Standing:
Victorious DLSP J5 Captain Derek Lawlor, holds the O'Connor Cup a loft, when Salmo last won it in 2007.
Tomorrow night (Friday) at 7.30pm in Castle Avenue Clontarf, Damian Deegan and Dave Lillis's J5's take on Clontarf in the Semi Final of the J5 O'Connor Cup, with the winners progressing to play either Terenure or Marys.
All support would be very welcome, as the lads who have had a great season finishing 4th in their league and now qualifying for the cup Semi-Final.
Special mention for the inspirational and ever green Brian Murray, who will be starting in the second row. Brian is a real club man and proof of this is the way in which he played for every team except the firsts this year, when he recieved those dreaded match morning phone calls , when someone else had cried off from other teams.
Salmo Man part of Munster Schools Cup Winning Team
We were delighted to receive a recent e mail, telling us that Alex Lynch (who is a former player under Joe Kiely's Youth Section) and is a pupil of Rockwell College, was on the Rockwell Senior Cup Team that beat PBC 9-3 in the Munster School Final on St Patrick's Day. Well done Alex and we look forward to seeing you in the Salmo Colours when you come back to Dublin.
2011 Players Dinner Date Confirmed:
2009-10 J4 Players Player Michael Jones receives his award from Team Captain Peter Tunney (Middle) and Conor McCormick DLSP Director of Rugby (Right)
We are delighted to announce that our 3rd Annual players dinner will take place on Friday June 3rd next at 8pm in the clubhouse.
Last year we had over 100 players attending on the night, which was a fantastic success and the great numbers added to an enjoyable night.
This year on top of players from 1st xv, J1, J3, J4, J5, Vets, U-21 & U-19, we will have a unique reunion of Niall Fitzgeralds J3 team treble team, who won The Moran Cup, The Stradbrook cup and the League (exactly 10 years ago this season), so it looks like another full house.
Again Gerry Doyle and his team are looking after us , with the cost being €20 per person to include 2 course meal and buying of trophies for the Players player for each team.
U-11's and U-12's Off to London Irish:
Best of luck to our U11'1 and U12's who this year become the Salmo Representatives for the 27th consecutive year to tour to our friends at London Irish. The trip has been organised under the guidance of a great committee that includes: Graham Cooke, Graham Smyth, Alan Hayden and Peter McKeown.
The above photo shows the DLSP U-11's players Cian Lillis, Matthew Delaney and Ben O'Leary with Ireland and Leinster player Luke Fitzgerald who they spotted in Dundrum, when they were doing their bag packing fund raising, which was hugely successful. With thanks to Paul Kelly, Barry Murphy and Owen O'Leary for organising it.
Interestingly, Luke Fitzgeralds first rugby tour outside of Ireland was when he started playing in the DLSP minis and travelled to London Irish himself. Luke wrote a very nice letter to the U-11's & U-12's for their tour programme telling them this and advising them to enjoy their tour.
No Ticket for Leinster's Heineken Cup game?
Ahead of Leinster's HeinekenCup Semi- Final Vs Tolouse at their recent open training session, Ireland and Leinster player Shane Jennings got to meet DLSP players Ben Murphy (Left - Salmo U-11's), Sam Murphy (Middle - Salmo U-8's) & James Feeney (Right - Salmo U-11's).
No ticket for Leinsters game on Saturday? well fear not, club host Gerry Doyle informs us that the blue flags will be flying proudly at Kirwan Park and the Front Row Restaurant will be doing a supporters special, of a Pint and chicken kiev and chips to the members for €9.50 and for the kids €5 for a burger and chips, drink and ice cream, all families welcome. Why not come up to your club and enjoy watching the big game on any of our 3 big screens.
