First competitive touch rugby game result

(17 Sep 2017)

Last Saturday was a big day for the DLSP Touch team, who's progressive development saw us host another touch team when we played Wicklow in a challenge match.

The game took place prior to the 1st XV Leinster league game between both clubs and is also we believe the the first official competitive touch game to take place between two clubs.

The DLSP XV included a number of Salmo Stalwarts who are still proud to be donning the black jersey and wine and gold socks, including former 1st Xv captain Frank Ennis, Martin Huggard, Peter Ashbrowne, Brian Murray and Paul Keating.

This pictures of both teams at the final whistle, say much about what's great about Touch Rugby as a sport in that its mixed, the age range is huge, it facilitates all levels (some have only played for a couple weeks yet we were all able to play together), no blood was spilt, no one got hurt (despite the lack of brakes on some of the older machines!) and as you can see from the faces everyone had a great time.

For the record we won our first ever home 7-6 and we would like to thank those all involved with Wicklow Touch Rugby for travelling to Kilternan.

If you know anybody who'd love to try Touch Rugby, please ask them to contact Peter Ashbrowne Directly on: 087 9452049 and/or they would be very welcome to come to training in Kilternan on any Wednesday night at 8pm.
