Salmo Super Saturday
Tomorrow see’s one of the biggest Saturdays at Kirwan Park in recent years, with three big games taking place.
Even better is the competitive position of all the Salmo Teams that are playing, with the first team being second in their Ulster Bank League taking on our friends from Malone RFC in Belfast. Kickoff is at 2.30pm.
Interestingly the annual DLSP Vs Malone game is the oldest intercity game and this Saturday will be the 110th annual fixture.
The game is played for the Des Merrey perpetual trophy and last year DLSP won in Belfast. On Saturday his son Trevor Merrey will be in attendance to present the award to the victorious Captain.
Gerry Doyle advises that there are places still available for lunch and he is doing a two course lunch and entry to the game for €12.50. There are three choices on the menu for main course: Lasagne, Chicken Kiev or Salmon, with Fresh home made desserts. To book your place please e mail: info@dlspfc.ie
Gavin Ross’s J4’s are proudly top of the table in their league and take on Newbridge RFC in a top of the table clash. Some well known Salmo faces who have being playing for us for over 20 years including Gavin Stokes, Owen O’Leary,Ray Carey and Peter Tunney will be lining out in this big game.
Our J2’s take on Wanderers in the league, with Niall Fitzgerald and Tom Hynes's team competing, kick off at 3pm. Dave Beagon son of Terry Beagon, Michael Jones son of Hugh Jones of Palmerston FC fame are amongst those who will be lining out.

Get well soon
Unfortunately one of Salmos brightest stars of the future Josh O’Rourke received a nasty knock in last week’s victory over Coolmine in the U-21 JP Pennant league. Josh broke his arm badly and will be out for three months. This is very unfortunate as he had been selected for the Irish Youths club team to play Italy in February, a pupil at St David’s in Bray, Josh began his rugby playing career with Dave Hicks in the mini rugby. We wish him well on a speedy recovery.
Membership Deadline
All players are advised that they must have their FULL membership paid for by this Saturday or they will NOT be allowed play this weekend.
