The De La Salle Palmerston Ladies team first came into being in June 2014. Probably a very timely entry to Rugby with the Irish Womens team showing that Womens Rugby is an amazing exciting sport.
The first days of training were all about building at team through fun games, skills and fitness. By August with most of the players being new to rugby we started learning the skills necessary for contact, tackling, rucking in a safe environment.
By September we were ready for our first match a friendly against Tallaght RFC. A great exhilarating experience where we learnt how different training is to a game. We were then ready to start our league matches. As a new team we entered the Leinster Women's Developmental league. We succeeded in getting through to the semifinals of the league. A fantastic achievement in our first season.
Looking at our coming season we want to build on our experiences, skills and our team. DLSP Ladies are a strong team of dedicated players. Some of our players had connections with the club as spectators as mothers or sisters of players, while others just came along to give us a try and found a home in DLSP.
Each player brings their unique skills and experiences to the team both on and off the pitch.
So whether that be speed, agility, strength or the killer instinct on the pitch or secret karaoke love, baking, a Frozen addiction, eyebrows that are always on point, or YOLO dance moves off the pitch we are a team that play together.
We are currently recruiting new members to join us. No experience is necessary and all training will be provided along with laughs and social outings. Training is on Monday andWednesday 7pm to 8.30pm with a soft drink in the clubhouse afterwards.
