Dear Members of the DLSP FC rugby family,
As we stand on the brink of an exciting new rugby season, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the tremendous strides we have made in recent years and to look to the journey that lies ahead. The echoes of our triumphant past season still resonate in our hearts, reminding us of the remarkable camaraderie that defines our community.
Last season's success at senior level was not just a fleeting moment; it was a testament to the unwavering dedication of every member - from the youngest to the oldest. Our club is more than a collective of members; it is a beacon of unity that embraces individuals of all ages, genders, and abilities. From our enthusiastic minis to our determined youths and passionate adults, we are a community that thrives on diversity. Our willingness to celebrate the unique passions that bind us together extends through every team in the club including our tippers, our taggers, and our friends in the American Football community.
Our inclusivity extends beyond the conventional. Our mixed ability and special needs section stands as a shining example of our commitment to providing a welcoming space for everyone.
None of this would be possible without the exceptional spirit of volunteerism that courses through our veins. The coaches who shape our players' skills, the administrators who keep the gears turning, the managers who orchestrate behind the scenes, the first aid responders who ensure our safety, the welfare officers who take care of us, the car parking attendants who organise us, the PRO who tells our story, the groundskeepers who transform the pitches into arenas of dreams, the general maintenance crew who tend to every detail, the tireless shop staff who keep our pride alive, and the dedicated committee members who pave the way forward - you are the pillars upon which our club stands, and your contributions are the essence of our success. I would encourage everyone to get involved in whatever capacity you can - volunteers are always welcome.
I want each of you to know that my door is always open. My email address is president@dlspfc.ie and I am here, not just as a figurehead, but as a willing listener and collaborator. If you have ideas, suggestions, concerns, or simply want to share your thoughts, please do not hesitate to reach out. Your voice matters, and together, we can continue to shape our club's legacy.
As we step into this fresh season, my heartfelt well-wishes extend to our club captain James Nolan, our Director of Rugby Norman Byrne, and our club Chairperson Dan McCartney.
To all our fellow members, let us continue championing the values of unity, perseverance, and passion. Let us take part not just for the thrill of victory, but for the joy of being part of something greater - a community that stands as a testament to the power of sport and togetherness.
Wishing you all an unforgettable and inspiring season ahead.
Yours in rugby,
Des Cunningham,
President DLSP FC
