A Trip Down a Kilternan Memory Lane

Our thanks to club member Ken Verso who sent in this photo which dates from 1974 and features the 16 acres which would, in the fullness of time, become our current home.

Palmerston FC purchased the site in 1973 and would go on to play their first game in Kilternan in 1980.

A ground-breaking merger between Palmerston FC and De La Salle RFC in 1985 established the club we know today and the grounds were officially re-named in October 2009 in honour of the Kirwan family who played such as significant role in our history.

A lot has happened in the intervening 52 years and no doubt the next 52 will see plenty more change. We are fairly confident the 1970s will always boast the most stylish cars though!
