Leinster Rugby Metropolitan and Provincial Club of the Year award for Salmo

Dear Members

I am delighted to announce that De La Salle Palmerston FC received the Leinster Rugby Metropolitan and Provincial Club of the Year award at the Leinster Rugby Awards Ball this week in the Intercontinental Hotel, Ballsbridge. The award was collected on behalf of the club by Chairperson, Dan McCartney (pictured above with Moira Flahive, President of Leinster Rugby).

This is a huge honour for the club and is testament to all the hard work that went on behind the scenes last year by all members and teams to ensure we provide the very best facilities for rugby locally and also an acknowledgement of the warm hospitality visitors to Kirwan Park receive from the membership.

Last year we hosted the likes of the successful mini youth open day, sold out pre-match lunches, a very entertaining golf classic, superb London Irish festival, another wonderful Kieran Burke festival, an Eagles tag tournament, a pre-international girl's tournament and of course it all culminated in the fantastic IRFU Junior Interprovincial match between Leinster and Munster on the May bank holiday weekend which showcased Kirwan Park and the club for the superb facility it is. In addition, we also won the Leinster Referees Club of the Year!

These awards were achieved by everyone in the club that puts in the hours from maintaining pitches, mentoring teams, administering membership, fixtures, pitches and training, hosting and organising events etc. You should all be very proud of your rugby club.

There is a lot planned for next season to make our club an even better experience - particularly for our members and their families. For now, though, congratulations to everyone - and don't be afraid to tell all and sundry that you are a member of the "Club of the Year"!
