There was great news for the club when, at the recent Leinster Rugby Referees annual dinner, President Owen O'Leary was presented with the Terry Doyle Memorial Award for the Leinster Rugby Club of the Year by Brendan Conroy, current President of Leinster Rugby Referees.
There are 71 rugby clubs affiliated to Leinster Rugby and this is the first time that Salmo has been the recipient since its inception in the 2005/6 season.
The winning club is decided by a vote of the panel of active referees of Leinster Rugby with criteria including: referee changing facilities, pitch conditions and markings, pre- and post-match hospitality, captain co-operation and team attitude as measured across the entire season for the nominated clubs.
President Owen would like to thank all our members from all levels for playing their part in helping earn this accolade and give a very special mention to Barry Murphy and Lisa McGovern who have worked so hard to make all match officials feel welcome to Kirwan Park throughout the season.
