Silverware for the U18.5 Boys

A special day for Salmo!

There are days in rugby that this group of lads will remember for a long, long time. This was one of them.

Our U18.5s travelled to Malahide for the Leinster Schools Youth Cup Final against MU Barnhall, having beaten Clontarf, Terenure and Suttonians on their way there.

And they finished the job!

Tries from Ross Carey, Rhys Sutherland and Conor Wolfe, along with an outstanding performance from the boot of Charlie Saunders, helped the lads to a superb 42–21 victory.

Most importantly, when Barnhall came back at us, the lads showed exactly what this team is about. They dug deep, backed each other and found another gear.

It's only the fourth time in 40 years that we've lifted this cup, with the last victory coming from DoR Norman Byrne's U18.5 side in 2017/18. That's something for this group to be very proud of.

Huge congratulations to every player, coach and supporter involved, and thanks to EI Travel for getting the lads to Malahide and starting the day off right.

A massive thanks to all who travelled over to support the boys, the noise from the sidelines was like having a 16th player on the field and made all the difference.

Now it's onto the league, with Birr at home in Kirwan Park this weekend.

C'Mon Salmo!
